誕生餅
誕生餅とは、赤ちゃんに一升（いっしょう）のお餅を背負わせて、1歳の誕生日を祝い、これからの健やかな成長を願う伝統行事です。
一升には「一生」の意味が掛かっていて「一生、健康でありますように」「一生、円満に過ごせますように」といった願いが込められていると言われています。
また一升の重さは1.8kgで、赤ちゃんにとってはとても重たいものです。
背負えても、背負えなくても、人生最初の一年を無事に成長してくれたことをみんなでお祝いします。
Issho Mochi（Birthday Mochi Cake）, a Japanese traditional ceremony, is held in celebration of the first birthday.
Parents makes their one-year-old son or daughter carry “Issho Mochi”on their back because “Issho” also has a meaning of “whole life”.
Also,the weight of Issho Mochi is 1.8 kg, which is very heavy for a baby.
Whether they carry it on their back or not,
we all celebrate this year's growth.
